First Day, 1 word: Eeek!

Battling pre-college/school jitters...

Hands up if you're about to start high school, or has recently left school and is now starting college?

I for one am also starting college soon and I can tell you that I am extremely nervous, as you probably are too. But let me assure you that its completely normal to feel anxious or unsure about any new era in your life, its part of human nature.
So to help you (and myself), I have put together some tips and advice which will hopefully help you calm those first-day butterflies.

> Remember that everyone else is just as nervous as you are!  I know this a cliche one, but its seriously true.  It always puts me at ease when I remember this, as it assures me that everyone is literally in the same boat-  therefore why should I feel anxious?

> College/High School is full of new and exciting people!  Especially if you've had bad experiences at your previous school(s), remember that this is your chance for a fresh start and it will allow you to meet people you've never encountered before in your life!  Try to introduce yourself to as many people as possible, the relief from making a friend is just what you need.

> If you've already been through High School, remember how you felt on the first day of starting and how that over the following couple of days you felt more settled and realized that it wasn't much different from your previous school.

> Try not to drink caffeine on the morning of the first day!  (This goes for any event that you feel nervous about)  For some reason caffeine can make you more jittery and shaky; therefore it will definitely not keep your nerves at bay.  You don't wanna appear/feel more nervous than you actually are, right?

> Prepare the evening before!  This way you're not rushing around in the morning and accidentally forgetting something.  Trust me, I've learned the hard way.  Create a checklist and make sure you have everything you need for the following day.

NOTE: we're all in this together! (HSM pun not intended)
